Dunedin Botanical gardens

This is the Cherry Walk.A section of the Botanical Gardens which looks spectacular in early spring when the blossoms are out the the cherry trees.

The Dunedin Botanical Gardens are located at the northern end of central Dunedin, in the South Island of New Zealand, close to the mouth of North East Valley on a spur of Signal Hill and on the river plain immediately below it, thsese two parts of the gardens being known simply as the upper gardens and the lower gardens. They are located close to the University of Otago and one of the city's most historic cemeteries, the Northern Cemetery.
The gardens contain many sections including African gardens and Japanese gardens, the latter commemorating links with Dunedin's Japanese sister city, Otaru. A small aviary is located in the upper gardens, which are also well-known for their rhododendrons.
Established in 1869, the gardens cover an area of 26 hectares.
