Poplar Grove
Poplars on State Highway 85, just north of Alexandra before Omakau. The
larger mountain range in the background is the Dunstan Range.

rainfall the lowest. Surrounded and divided by rugged mountains,
drained by numerous rivers and in most parts devoid of bush, it is
